The state of Florida currently has close to 24,000 regulated storage tank facilities and storage tank compliance inspectors conducted more than 11,000 inspections in 2020.

Regulated storage tank systems, such as those containing motor fuel, are required to be registered with DEP. The department routinely discovers such systems, especially aboveground systems, that are in-service and not registered. The department is undertaking an outreach initiative to provide basic information to fuel distributors to ensure all regulated systems are properly registered. For more information, please view the guidance with contact information specific to your district.

Only regulated storage tanks are required to have a Registration Placard.
